Where did the time go?

So much to catch up it's ridiculous!

Where do I even begin? First off, I’m no longer in my early twenties. I’m 28 now, to be exact. I’ve grown into a well-seasoned designer with experience across multiple platforms, mediums, and skill sets.

The last time I blogged, I felt lost. This time… I’m a completely different person.

It’s funny looking back and being able to see and hear the growth in your work. I went from being a young, introverted graphic designer to a communication specialist at a college, while also teaching graphic design part-time.

Life really comes at you. None of this was easy. I had to put myself out there—through countless coffee nights, meetups, social hours, conferences, and trips. I made it a point to build the life I wanted as an artist.

Here’s a brief timeline of what’s happened since I last blogged:

  • 2022 – Started my role as a Communication Specialist and began building a new portfolio.

  • 2023 – Had an incredible year. I got involved in the community, gained consistent freelance clients, returned to grad school, and was featured in four gallery shows.

  • 2024 – Expanded my mediums and leaned more into marketing and communications alongside art and design.

  • 2025 – Graduated from grad school and began teaching as an adjunct lecturer.

  • 2026 – So far, I’ve accomplished many of my design goals and am now looking to re-enter the gallery space. I’m strengthening my creative writing and journalism skills while building a new portfolio that reflects that work.

There’s a lot more in between, but overall, it’s been a period of growth and progress.

The biggest shift this year is that I’ll be traveling more for my design work. At 27, I found a balance as a multi-passionate artist and designer. Now at 28, I feel like I’ve mastered it—at least for now—and I want to keep building on that momentum.

At the same time, I don’t want to lose track of documenting this journey. So I’m back to blogging—regularly sharing what’s happening in my art and design life for anyone who wants to follow along.
